Homecoming

Last Saturday David's sister Sarah came home after serving a year and a half mission in West Virginia. I am so proud of her for going in the first place, for sticking with it when it was tough and most of all for giving it 100% and changing the lives of so many people for the better.
We went to meet her at the airport, but things just aren't the way I remember and we stood dumbly at the bottom of the escalators like this for like twenty minutes.

David's mom and dad went and picked her up in West Virginia so they were with her when she came home.

Turns out our long wait was due to them taking turns going to the bathroom and watching the luggage...Hmmmm.
Ashton had made his own "posters" of new things he has learned to draw and write and he was very proud of them to say the least.

I had Zander about a month after Sarah left so this was their first meeting. It is so strange to me that she doesn't even know him. He is such a HUGE (literally and figuratively) part of our lives that it is very weird to me that they have never met. Until now.

And in true Zander fashion...it is going to take awhile for him to warm up to the idea of her.

But Ashton was elated to have her home and hasn't stopped asking about when we are going to see her again since this weekend. For 18 months he has never missed a night including "please bless Sarah on her mission" in his prayers.

Typically, the luggage took forever, so the kids entertained themselves with an old-fashioned cowboy hat that Sarah had with her. Apparently it was given to her by some random person on the plane. Funny how a missionary tag elicits such strange comments and gifts from people, right?

But I think Zander really captured the cowboy essence in this photo...just laid back and letting it all hang out and proud of it.

Congratulations Sarah, we are all so proud of you and glad to have you home!

My Uncle was the mission president in West Virginia, but he was released probably before her. That is so great. West Virginia can be an interesting place... it had it's reputation out east!
